Finding the Fort Gael Location in Caelid
To reach Fort Gael, players should head toward the western region of Caelid near the border of Limgrave. Starting from the Rotview Balcony Site of Grace, follow the path eastward toward Caelem Ruins before traveling south. You will eventually encounter the Smoldering Well Site of Grace, which sits just east of the fortress grounds.
As you approach Fort Gael, you will notice heavy fortification including barricades and vigilant guards. Keep an eye out for a giant Radahn Knight positioned atop the walls, who will snipe at intruders using a massive Greatbow. Finding the Fort Gael North Site of Grace nearby provides a safe checkpoint before attempting to break inside.
Infiltrating the Fortress Defenses
The main gate of Fort Gael remains firmly locked from the inside, preventing a direct front assault. Instead, players must circle around the right side of the outer wall to locate a hidden wooden path. Carefully climb the giant tree root and scale the ladder to reach the upper battlements.
Once on the upper walkway, eliminate the Redmane soldiers patrolling the area to secure a safe vantage point. From here, you can lower the gate by interacting with a lever located along the southwest rampart. This shortcut makes returning to the interior much easier if you fall in battle.
Confronting the Lion Guardian and Key Rewards
The central courtyard of Fort Gael is guarded by a formidable Lion Guardian equipped with blade weapons. Defeating this nimble beast yields the highly sought-after Ash of War: Lion's Claw, a powerful martial skill for melee builds. Ranged attackers can safely snipe the creature from the elevated platforms above the courtyard.
In addition to the Lion's Claw, Fort Gael holds several essential treasures scattered throughout its quarters. Players can discover the Katar fist weapon inside a chest hidden in an alcove off the main yard. Outside the fortress walls to the south, players can also claim the Flame, Grant Me Strength incantation tucked between two Flame Chariots.

At the highest point of Fort Gael stands a watchtower hosting an active waygate teleporter. Activating this portal instantly transports players across the region directly to the impassable bridge leading into Redmane Castle.
